International Academy Saint Petersburg

International Academy Saint Petersburg  provides private educational services for international students in grades K-12 living in St. Petersburg, Russia. The school serves families in business, diplomatic service and other expats in the city.

The School

The school is housed in one building containing 13 classrooms, a science lab, a mixed media/fine arts room, and a cafeteria. School technology is on a one-to- one basis with each student having their own tablet. The school rents a local gymnasium for physical education classes.

The Students

Since 1993, International Academy Saint Petersburg  students have come from more than thirty countries, the largest groups being US, South Korea, and Japan. Currently, the school has 95 students from 10 countries. Instruction is given in English, and students must demonstrate minimum English language proficiency to enter high school (more information on admission online).

Curriculum

International Academy Saint Petersburg offers university preparatory program. Upon graduation, students receive an internationally recognized diploma. Full credit classes meet five times a week and half-credit classes meet two to three hours per week; one course credit correlates to 120 academic hours. All classes meet for the entire school year.

In addition to our standard university preparatory program, we offer internationally recognized Advanced Placement courses under the direction of our AP coordinator (ap@new.myiasp.com). We have expanded our AP offerings for the 2022-2023 academic year through the addition of our remote instruction academic program.

Extracurricular activities include: Model United Nations, Athletics (Soccer, Basketball, etc.), Student Council, and various Field Trips and Excursions.

 

Our Community

St. Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia is a center for music and the arts. The city is also a base for international businesses and consulates. Classes at International Academy Saint Petersburg  engage with the cultural heritage of St. Petersburg through experiences at places like the Hermitage Art Museum and Mariinsky Theater.

Grade Point Average and Class Rank

Semester course grades are reported numerically on transcripts. These are used to determine GPA on a four point scale. Semester grades are used to calculate the cumulative GPA. Only grades earned at International Academy Saint Petersburg  are used to calculate a student’s GPA. International Academy Saint Petersburg   does not rank students because the majority do not attend International Academy Saint Petersburg  during all of their high school years and they come from varied educational backgrounds including international schools with different grading scales.
